DO RE WE NEWS
Our original Musical "Ella's Impossible Dream" captivates Kamnik and Radomlje
On Friday, November 22, 2024, the Kamnik Cultural Center came alive with the enchanting rhythms and vibrant colors of the pre-premiere performance of the original musical Ella's Impossible Dream. The audience was made up of young, curious children from the Peter Pan Kindergarten and primary school students from the Nevlje and Mekinje branch schools. Enthusiasm and laughter echoed throughout the performance, which uniquely combined music, dance, and the magic of children's dreams.
The grand premiere of the musical for the general public followed on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Radomlje Cultural Center, where the hall was packed to the brim with an excited audience. The story of Ella the elephant, who overcomes obstacles and achieves her dreams through perseverance, the support of her friends, and her love for dance, moved and inspired audiences of all generations.
Behind this wonderful performance stands the dedicated team from the DoReWe Music School – Helena, Sara, Boris, and Nevena. The idea for the musical emerged at the end of 2023, and nearly a year of intensive work and creative enthusiasm followed before the premiere performance.
Ella's story, which highlights the importance of courage, friendship, and perseverance, was further brought to life with the help of Ballet School Ana and the Dance Club Šinšin. Their dancers and performances added a magical touch to the production, creating visually breathtaking scenes.
"When you surrender to music, you shine in your true colors," sings Ella in one of the most touching moments of the musical. And indeed, this message resonated deeply with the audience. The music, dance, and story reminded everyone that anyone can achieve their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.
The team from the DoReWe Music School and its students demonstrated through Ella's Impossible Dream , that hard work, creativity, and a love for the arts always pay off. The audience was captivated, and all the performers proved that the power of music and dance is boundless, just like Ella's dreams.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to bringing Ella's dreams to life on stage with your presence! As Ms. Pia Brodnik noted, we have created the first children's musical in Slovenia!
FANTASTIC TIP
#24 Why is watching children's performances important for kids?
Attending a performance featuring their peers is an invaluable experience for children. Shows like the musical Ella's Impossible Dream are more than just entertainment—they are a true source of inspiration. While watching, children see that their peers can shine on stage and overcome challenges, which boosts their confidence and belief in themselves.
Watching other children perform helps kids understand the amount of effort, perseverance, and teamwork required to successfully put on a show. It also encourages imagination, artistic expression, and a love for music, dance, or acting. Additionally, such experiences foster empathy, as children explore various emotional challenges and the ways to overcome them through the story.
The greatest value lies in showing children that dreams are not unattainable. With effort and dedication, they too can achieve great things. Watching their peers overcome stage fright and work together to create something beautiful can inspire children to try something new and bold themselves.
We encourage you to give children the opportunity to watch and even perform in such productions. Who knows? Perhaps watching just one performance will spark a passion that will shape their lives!
SONATA FROM THE STREET
Darja, a teacher at Nevlje Primary School, shared her thoughts after watching the musical at the Kamnik Cultural Center:
"We were thrilled to attend the musical Ella's Impossible Dreams. Both students and teachers were amazed by such an outstanding production. During the performance, I watched our children, and I could see their eyes light up as they eagerly followed the story of the musical.
The dance and singing immediately drew us into the narrative, and the rhythm kept lifting our spirits throughout. The content of the musical was excellent—educational and inspiring. The performers, with their dancing, singing, and confident presence, demonstrated that they are capable of so much, and more—they were fantastic. Their expressions, gestures, and delivery... everything was beautifully interconnected.
In short, great praise and heartfelt recognition to all the performers and the exceptional mentors who guided the children into the wonderful world of music and singing."
Pia Brodnik, Slovenian soprano and professor of voice at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, shared the following reflections after watching the performance at the Radomlje Cultural Center:
"The musical, alongside opera, operetta, and similar stage works, is one of the most demanding art forms, as it encompasses the entire spectrum of artistic expression—music, singing, dance, visual arts, costume design, set design, lighting, sound effects, and more.
All these elements were successfully brought together by the DoReWe Music Center in their original children's musical Ella's Impossible Dreams. The leaders of the music center and the youthful enthusiasm of the music and vocal educators managed to create a performance lasting just over an hour, featuring fourteen singers and actors. They also collaborated with Ballet School Ana and Dance Club Šinšin, bringing in an impressive twenty-one dancers. The result was an engaging, educational, and highly watchable show, enriched by beautiful music, solo and choral numbers, and dance performances. This was complemented by a simple yet effective set design, creative costumes, and well-integrated sound and lighting effects.
All the children performing demonstrated a remarkable sense of responsibility, along with joy and passion in shaping their roles—a sentiment that was keenly felt by the full house of spectators, primarily children and teenagers, who rewarded them with enthusiastic applause.
Congratulations to the entire DoReWe Music Center team for producing the first children's musical in Slovenia!"
